Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear?
Feel like dressing snazzy? Great! Go for it. Don't want to get dressed up? That's cool too. Do you have a tux or a white dress you never get to wear? Feel free! Jim and Sonia won't be wearing anything traditional like that. Keep in mind that the historic venue does not have AC and there will be outdoor spaces and activities. Dress in whatever makes you comfortable and happiest!
Will there be libations?
Yes, there will be plenty to drink whether you want something alcoholic, non-alcoholic, or caffeinated! In case you are wondering, any clinking of glasses to encourage kissing will fall on deaf ears as we believe in bodily autonomy. And besides, glasses will be made of compostable plastic so clinking would be sort of difficult :-)
Can I bring my mini-humans?
Of course you can!
Will there be cats?
Everyone knows we love cats. However, cats will not enjoy this party and neither will your dog. Leave your furry friends at home unless they are an emotional support animal that you need with you.
Will there be dancing?
Yes, of course! What's a great party without dancing? However, there will be no chicken dance, YMCA, conga lines, etc. There will be good music and good times on the dance floor.
What about a disco ball?
There might be a disco ball and there will definitely be party lights, but there will not be any rapid flashing or strobe lights. Some areas of the historic venue are dimly lit including outdoors after dark. We will have flashlights if people need them. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns.
Will there be food?
Yes! All food will be vegan and most food will be gluten free. You will have many choices! Please share allergen information on the RSVP so we can ensure everyone has plenty to eat and will stay safe. And of course there will be desert (have you met Jim?) and there may be cake, but not a cutting ceremony or shoving of cake in each others faces.
Will there be seating?
Yes, we will have chairs and tables both indoors and outside. The venue is all one floor with no steps to enter. The outdoor space is flat but unpaved, mostly grass with some gravel.
How do I get there?
The historic Pump House is located in the Waterfront District of Homestead, in Pittsburgh. For more information and directions see the Location page. If you want to take public transit, the following bus lines are available. There is FREE auto and bike parking at the venue.
